Professional Staff John Kattelus, Agency Director John Kattelus began working with individuals with disabilities as a "Houseparent" in a residential facility in 1973 while completing his Bachelors Degree in Psychology at Michigan State University. He has worked on a Psychiatric Unit at a hospital, been the Director of a Work Activity Program for adults with developmental disabilities, a Case Manager working with persons with acquired disabilities, and a Consultant to school districts. He received a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1978 from the University of Michigan and is a licensed Professional Counselor. He was the Administrator for a residential/out-patient rehabilitation program for more than 10 years, working with individuals with traumatic brain injury. In 1995 he started CBI with Robert Pilon and Kris Curtis.
Robert Pilon, Agency Director Robert Pilon has been an Agency Director since the founding of Community Based Interventions in 1995. He has a Bachelors Degree in Social Science and Behavioral Psychology from Western Michigan University, and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Michigan where his studies focused on behavioral methods in social work. He has extensive experience in applied behavioral analysis across a wide range of program areas including; special education, vocational training, mental health, and rehabilitation. He has directed programs serving adults and children with disabilities including developmental disabilities (particularly autism), traumatic brain injury, and multiple disabilities. His clinical focus has been on interventions designed to reduce severe challenging behaviors including aggressive behaviors. He has extensive experience in program development and management including organizational development, organizational behavioral analysis, supervision, and compensation systems. Robert has experience in human service policy development and has provided advocacy services across multiple social and educational systems.
Kris Curtis, Agency Director Kris Curtis has provided rehabilitation counseling services to individuals who have sustained traumatic brain injury since 1984. Kris has a Bachelors Degree from Central Michigan University and a Masters Degree from Central Michigan in Counseling. He is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Kris has worked as a Clinical Director of one of the first Residential Post Acute Programs in the state, and was a Director of Vocational Services working with individuals with disabilities. Prior to the founding of CBI he was the president and CEO of a community based Traumatic Brain Injury program. Kris also does specialty cognitive and behavioral work for individuals with jobs in jeopardy.
Scot DeCaire, Program Coordinator of Community Living Program Scot has worked for with the agency since 1998. During his time with CBI he has worked with children with developmental disabilities and adults who have sustained traumatic brain injury. He began as a Behavioral Aid working in family homes and was later promoted to the position Program Coordinator for the adult apartment program in 2003. He has extensive experience in all programs that CBI has to offer.
Amy Heinrich, Program Manager Amy earned her Bachelors at Michigan State University in Elementary Education and a Masters in Social Work at the University of Michigan and is a Licensed Master Social Worker. For the past eight years, Amy has worked with children with developmental disabilities in both school and home settings. Amy has consulted with families and treatment providers regarding behavioral modification, sensory integration, and social skill interventions. She has implemented behavioral treatment programs for both children and adults addressing challenging behaviors. She has extensive experience working with children with Autism and Adults with Traumatic Brain Injury. In addition to managing CBI's Adult Residential Services Program as well as our CMH Respite Program, she has had experience supervising and working in our children services for the in-home respite care.
Samantha Ellsworth, Program Coordinator Adult Residential Facility Samantha began her employment with CBI Rehabilitation Services in 2004. Samantha has earned her Bachelors' Degree in Human Service. Samantha has extensive experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Rebecca Whikehart, Program Coordinator CBS Program Rebecca has been employed by CBI Rehabilitation Services since June of 2006. Rebecca graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors' of Science degree in Family Community Services.
Marikay Molnar, Program Coordinator Children's Crisis Respite Program Marikay Molnar has been with CBIRS for over a year. Marikay has a Bachelor's degree in Human Services and brings 18 years of family and child development experience to her position as Program Coordinator of the Children's Crisis Respite Services. Marikay works as a liaison between CBI Rehabilitation Services Crisis Respite program and CEI-CMH therapists, area families and children. As a Program Coordinator her goal is to meet all needs effectively in order to ensure the best possible experience for the children while in respite care. Marikay provides direct services to the children in the program, ensures each child's program is individualized, and supervises and trains staff to assure consistency and quality of service.
Jacob Ellsworth, Program Coordinator Vocational Program Jake began his employment with CBI Rehabiliation Services in 2006. Jake has a proven track record of effectively implementing vocational training programs for individuals with disabilities. Programs are individualized and focus on behavioral and task based training to assist clients in achieving greater independence.
